Pilots are encouraged to monitor and announce on channel 122.9.\n \nBring gear for non-flying activities\, including Mulberry River paddling trips\, fishing\, trail exploring\, campfire cookouts\, off-roading\, mountain biking\, and more.\n \nInformal groups will fly out on sightseeing adventures to surrounding areas (weather permitting).\n \nSnacks\, drinks\, ice\, and camping supplies are available at Byrd’s on-site store.\nRestaurant dining is available at Byrd’s Riverfront Restaurant.\n \nAviation fuel is available nearby at the Ozark (7M5) and Clarksville (H35) municipal airports. DESCRIPTION:Registration Now Open!   \nThe Ozark Backwoods Challenge is an entirely unique experience. Inspired by the challenging terrain of the Arkansas Ozarks\, this competition tests not only a pilot’s skill but demands extreme knowledge of equipment and unparalleled judgment. The terrain involves actual backwoods flying while adding the exciting elements of time trials with unpredictable river valley winds. All of these aspects combine to make this experience more complex than your average STOL competition! \nThis event will be set deep in the Ozarks at the legendary Byrd’s Adventure Center on September 28th – Oct. 2rd\, 2022.\nA timed STOL event requiring the participant to depart the main runway\, land at three other designated runways\, & return to the landing point. \nNot only will The Challenge test the skills of some of the best pilots and their aircraft\, but it also provides the opportunity to exchange their tips\, tricks\, & knowledge of backwoods flying. Add to it the location in the heart of the beautiful Ozarks\, you won’t find a more beautiful or demanding flying venue. \nThe competition will be divided into three (3) classes defined by gross weight:\nLight Sport (up to 1\,320 lbs) • Bush (1\,321 lbs – 2\,300 lbs) • Touring (2\,301 lbs & above or 4 place) \nNEW FOR 2022!\nWe have updated our course incorporating a brand new runway and new challenges! \n\nWinners will be determined with a composite scoring system utilizing components of time and backcountry flying precision\nQualifying will be held on the River Runway utilizing a new format.
