Brewha Bushwhack and Boondoggle 2022
Join us at Byrd’s Adventure Center on April 11th for our Annual Brewha Bushwhack and Boondoggle!
•••THE BREWHA BUSHWHACK•••
The Brewha Bushwhack is not a race in the traditional sense. What you know is more important than how fast you are – this is not a beat-down obstacle race. While there will be physical challenges, the goal is to push the limit of the teams’ diversity of skills, and what can be accomplished together. A well-rounded team is essential, and teams are encouraged to work together to solve problems. You make your own path, and go at your own pace. Plan your own route of travel and complete checkpoints in whatever order seems best. Finishing first helps you in no way, as this is a race for points, not time.
The gear requirements are small.
You’ll use little more than a compass, knife, para-cord, duct tape, and a fire steel to complete each challenge. The most important tool is your brain, and the best asset is your team. At the end of it all, there will be some great local beer & ciders waiting for you, BBQ, live music, and an awards ceremony where we’ll swap stories of the day and compare scars.
*This year, your team will need a traditional style bow (i.e. non-compound) for the race.
Build your team, practice your skills, and GET SOME!
**This year’s registration is a little different: EVERYTHING is online, and YOUR ENTIRE TEAM must register at the same time.
If you will be arriving Friday evening after 9pm, you will need to take care of camping fee for that night Saturday morning at the Byrd’s Adventure Center store (Saturday night camping is included in the Brewha Bushwhack registration fee). They will be open at 0800, so there’s time before the 0830 late Brewha check in and 0900 pre-race meeting.
YOUR TEAM IS NOT COMPLETELY REGISTERED UNTIL BOTH OF THESE ARE COMPLETED
•••THE BREWHA BOONDOGGLE•••
The Boondoggle is festival for all things outdoors! While our Brewha Bushwhack teams are competing, we’ll be hosting product demos, games, and give-aways from attending vendors like The North Face, Patagonia, and many others. We’ll also have skill clinics from returning special guests Donny Dust of Paleo Tracks Survival LLC, David Canterbury of The Pathfinder School LLC, Correy Hawk of Organic Archery, Matthew Tate of American Survival Co., Phillip Liebel of Primitive wilderness survival, and Teal Bulthuis – Naked & Afraid. Later in the day will be live music by Adam Johnston & The Dirty Strings, and Sad Daddy, locally brewed beverages, dinner, the Bushwhack awards ceremony, and general good times.
*Veterans: bring your military I.D. to the Boondoggle registration booth at the event, and receive 5 extra giveaway tickets!
